ENACK Meeting, March 27, 2006, Via Christi St. Joseph, ED Conference Room

Meeting called to order by President Mitch Jewett. Attendees: Mitch, Newton Medical Center; Charla Holman, Via Christi St. Joseph; and Jane Ross, Wesley Medical Center.

No meeting was held in February due to inclement weather. The minutes of the January meeting were reviewed and approved. Treasurer’s report showed $2,047.32 in our account.

Lively discussion was held regarding the continued high census both in the ED’s and in the hospitals requiring the ED to hold in-patients for longer and longer periods of time adding to their overcrowding and stress. Again no one had any solutions to the dilemma which seems to be nationwide but the discussion and venting was helpful.

The upcoming CEU is finalized, speakers confirmed, flyers prepared and it looks to be an excellent offering yet again. ENACK has a very good reputation for excellent CEU offerings, as does KENA as well as Wesley. Three excellent collaborators should make for an extremely excellent presentation. All are looking forward to this CEU.

Visiting ED’s around the state to inquire about what the organization might offer that they are lacking was discussed again. This has long been a goal of ENACK that has yet to come to fruition but we have not yet given up. Everyone is busy but we fully intend to carve out some time to accomplish this long standing goal.
