ENACK Meeting,
Monday, May 22, 2006, Wesley Medical Center, ED Conference Room
Meeting
called to order at 7:10 by Mitch Jewett, President. Introductions were made.
Attendees were Mitch, Newton Medical Center; Stefanie Fair, Salina
Regional Health Center; Charla Holman, Via Christi St. Joseph; Becky Jack,
Wesley Medical Center; Tom Donnay, Wesley Medical Center; and Jane Ross, Wesley
Medical Center.
No meeting was held in April due to
everyone’s busy schedule. Minutes of
the March meeting were reviewed and approved as printed. Treasurer’s report shows $2,047.32 remains
in the treasury. Mitch presented a
reimbursement check he had received in the amount of $290 making our total
$2,337.32. Charla will notify national
that we wish to have our reimbursements direct deposited and those present
agreed that this was an excellent plan.
Discussion was held on upcoming
National meeting in San Antonio, Texas, in September. Delegate point computations are due by the end of May or may be
hand delivered to the committee members at the June meeting in Hutchinson.
National elections are in progress and
if you have not received your mailed ballot or your e-mail ballot, contact the
national office of ENA immediately.
Your vote is important. One of
our members is running for national board.
After the positive response Mitch
received while visiting the Olathe Medical Center ED staff, more discussion was
held regarding visiting around the state.
This discussion comes up frequently but thus far no one has been able to
fit a “road trip” into a busy schedule.
More effort will be put forth to make this happen. If anyone is interested in being part of
this effort, contact Mitch, Charla, Stefanie, Becky or Jane. Expenses will be reimbursed and time will be
donated.
ENACK is extremely pleased with the
progress the Eastern Kansas Chapter had made in their resurrection. Mitch reported he had returned their
documents to them at the last state meeting!!
Good job, guys. ENACK will be
happy to help in this endeavor in any way needed. Let us know what you need.
The idea of offering another CEN
review class was discussed. Many
hospitals are attempting to attain magnet status and this is one of the
recommendations of the governing body.
If there is interest in a review class, we will put one together. It was decided that a one day class would be
more readily accepted than the one evening a week for several weeks. Please let Mitch, Stef, or Jane know of your
interest.
If you have any questions, concerns,
topics for presentation, certification interest, etc. please let your
professional organization know. We are
here for you.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10. Minutes
respectfully submitted, Charla Holman, RN, BSN; Secretary/Treasurer
