ENACK 7/31/06
The July meeting
was the annual “ENACK Summer Fun In The Sun Party.” It was held this year at Diana Lippoldt’s lovely swimming pool
and party deck.
A BIG THANK YOU
to Diana for once again extending her hospitality!!!
During the festivities
a brief business meeting was called by Mitch to discuss scholarships for
members to attend the annual Scientific Assembly to be held in San Antonio this
year. We currently have $2,047.32 in
our treasury (less the $ for this party).
After much discussion, Diana moved and Deb seconded to allocate up to
$1400 for scholarships to nationals.
The maximum amount per person is $350.
If you have received money from the ENA state council, you are not
eligible. If anyone is interested in
this stipend, please contact Mitch, Jane, or Charla.
The meeting was
then adjourned to continue swimming, eating, and visiting.
Respectfully
submitted by Charla Holman, Secretary-Treasurer.
Mitch reported
from the Government Affairs committee.
There are presently no health care issues making it out of
committee. The Owens Amendment to
protect nurses is being closely watched.
Darlene Whitlock is chair of a state task force looking at a primary
seat belt law. The helmet law is going
nowhere. The task force will make recommendations
and send to the state. Some discussion
is on-going on stiffer DUI penalties.
The state-wide trauma plan was also discussed. Mitch then reported on the 2006 ENA National Board meeting
actions and highlights.
Discussion was
held by the group on the annual summer party.
It will be held in July this year and Jane will check with Diana
Lippoldt to see if we might hold it at her pool again this year. More info on this to come.
Meeting adjourned
by Mitch.
Respectfully submitted,
Charla Holman, RN, BSN
