ENACK meeting,
September 25, 2006, 7 pm, Wesley Medical Center, ED Conference Room
Meeting called to
order at 1925 by Mitch Jewett, President.
Introductions were made.
Present: Mitch, Deb Veatch,
Diana Lippoldt, Denise Spaeth, Becky Jack, Jane Ross and new member Steve
Fisher, manager of the Kansas Medical Center Emergency Department. Welcome, Steve!
Mitch sent
handouts around for everyone to review.
He reported the call for committees nationally would close in one
week. Please apply if you are interested
in serving. The strategic plan for ENA
was discussed. Is healthcare a
right? A speaker at national discussed
this topic and entertained some thoughts on who deserves what. Discussion was held on the Medication
Reconciliation Act that seems to be a nightmare across the board. Mitch reported the ENAF awarded $99,500 in
scholarships and grants this year.
Their report was reviewed.
Special interest group forms were passed around in case anyone was
interested in joining one. Corporate
scholarships on the national level are being more closely scrutinized by
national ENA. Discussion was held on
asking Edie Brouse, nurse attorney, who was a speaker at national to present a
CEU on documentation / malpractice. She
was actually able to make documentation fun and interesting. An evidence based practice class was
discussed. The next state council KENA
meeting will be held here at Wesley, Intrust A, December 13 at 10:30 am. Discussion was held on lunch – if Wesley
unable to provide lunch, ENACK will provide.
Next ENACK meeting
will be Monday, October 23, 7 pm, Wesley Medical Center. The plan is even months Wesley, odd months
Via Christi St. Joseph. If anyone else
would care to host a meeting, please let Mitch know.
There being no
further business, the meeting was adjourned by Mitch.
