THE KANSAS STATE NURSES ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WOULD LIKE THE KANSAS ENA TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING PROPOSAL

(It is too late for this year, but we will consider this proposal

at an upcoming meeting for participating in 2009.)

Co-Sponsor and Host the Annual KSNA Convention, October 2-3, 2008 in Wichita at the Airport Hilton.

Assume Coordination responsibilities for the KENA Business Meeting on Friday, October 3rd of ENA (9a.m.- 12:00) Council Meeting then
Provide consultation (speakers you'd like to get) on 2 - 90 Minute CNE programs for the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 2nd for KENA Tract-- KSNA staff can coordinate documentation assembly and Speakers---ENA can attend KSNA CNE tracks if desired and vise versa for KSNA participants.

Thursday October 2nd
Jointly participate in Keynote speaker, 9-10:30 (Motivational/Inspirational)
Jointly participate in Networking 10:30 - 11:30 Professional Issues (Cafe-Latte's Theme)
Jointly participate in Awards Luncheon-Recognition (Recognize Nurses with Awards)
Jointly support Exhibits through free time to visit the 40-50 EXHIBITORS in the afternoon (only)

Friday, Oct. 3rd
Jointly participate in Luncheon 1 Hr. CNE Inspirational Presentation

Finish at 1:30 on Friday.

OTHER:
KSNA: Will coordinate program, exhibitor solicitation, convention promotion, hotel logistics and speakers.

Revenue Split: Registration Fee will be the same for all participants--KENA will get registration fees for KENA members minus costs for luncheons, KENA Speakers and CNE handouts for KENA CNE Tract; and

Exhibitor fees will be used to pay for Keynote, All breaks and meeting room costs--then the profits from Exhibitors will be split 70% KSNA, 30% KENA. This assumes that KENA will have at least 50 people in attendance--if not 50 people registered, we can negotiate a reduced split on the Exhibitor Profit.

KSNA is eager to partner with another specialty organization to use this facility to its fullest capacity. We appreciate the Board of KENA considering this request on such a short time-frame. KSNA can assume the financial risk for this endeavor and is looking forward to this opportunity. Thank you for considering it.

PROPOSED VISION AND MISSION STATEMENTS

KENA 2008

VISION:  That every patient needing emergency nursing care receives that care from a nurse who is competent to provide the care required. That emergency nurses provide not only emergent, urgent and not urgent care but education for the prevention of need for emergency care.

MISSION:  To promote and support emergency nursing care in the State of Kansas and to promote, develop and support emergency nurses across the multi dimensional spectrums of age, of patients, or potential patients, sub specialty of emergency nursing to the generalist emergency nurse who must be all things to tall patients in their practice setting, and across the geographic and institutional variances from urban trauma centers to the most rural critical access hospital with one bed.
